Mini Cooper F56 Tuning
POSTED IN chiptuningprojectstuning
We have had the chance to tune two remarkable hatchbacks recently, both from the same manufacturer and the same generation. Moreover, they are both from the same family. Our Mini Cooper F56 tuning was performed on a vehicle owned by the sister of our regular customer who is an avid fan of the quirky design of Mini.
He himself owns a Mini Cooper F56, but his is the S model which is more powerful and altogether more hardcore than his sister’s car. We also tuned that one and you will be able to read about it in our news section within the next few days.
Anyway, back to this one. It is a Stage 2 Mini Cooper F56 tuning that we performed for this particular one and it brought the tiny car a significant power boost. The stock power and torque ratings stand at 136 hp and 220 Nm from the 1.5 turbo petrol. The power delivery is very smooth and the torque is available over a remarkably wide range from 1250 to 4300 RPM, while the power comes just a bit later, from 4400 RPM and continues all the way up to 6000.
This means that the Mini Cooper with the 1.5 delivers the power in smoothly in any part of the RPM range. The only thing it lacked was the power and we gladly fixed it with our Mini Cooper F56 tuning.
The Stage 1 includes only software changes done on the OEM ECU Bosch MG1CS201 and it gives this engine about 162 hp and just under 300 Nm of torque. However, the brother wanted a better soundtrack for his sister’s machine, so we changed some intake and exhaust parts as well. This made more room for software adjustments and resulted in the measured output of 187 hp and 322 Nm of torque.
This actually makes this Mini Cooper faster than the stock Mini Cooper S, which features a 2.0 turbo engine.
The upgrade is completely safe for the engine and gearbox and the power delivery is as smooth as it was with the stock setup.
Stay tuned for more information about the wonderful Stage 2 tuning we developed for the Mini Cooper S.
