CAN-AM Renegade 1000 Tuning
Two days ago we had something a bit different. We worked on a customer’s CAN-AM renegade 1000 tuning. This motorcycle is not turbocharged and it has a CVT gearbox, so not many tuners would deal with it.
However, the person in question is an old customer of ours and we never turn our backs on a friend.
The CAN-AM Renegade 1000 tuning is done by adjusting the operation of the OEM ECU Bosch MED17. This is a very popular unit whose various iterations we have worked on in a number of vehicles. However, tuning this vehicle is a bit different than tuning turbocharged engines with automatic or manual transmissions.
We had to test meticulously to make sure our adjustments are safe for all parts and we are proud to say that we have created a great tuning for the CAN-AM Renegade 1000.
The difference in power is 6 hp (from 85 hp to 91 hp), but the way it drives is noticeably different. The customer complained that the stock tune had a weaker spot in power delivery and that the engine took some time to react.
Our tuning made the difference in those areas exactly, improving smoothness and throttle response and a report from the customer states that it ‘feels like a different machine’.
In fact, he was so pleased that his praise landed us another CAN-AM model to tune– his friend’s CAN-AM Traxter HD10. It has the same OEM ECU and we are confident we can provide satisfying results for this model as well.
