ECOTUNING
ECO TUNING: LOWER THE FUEL CONSUMPTION!
Is it possible to improve the performance of your car and at the same time lower fuel consumption? Ecotuning is a type of tuning which lowers the consumption of fuel while providing good performance. Learn how with ZIP Tuning.

More Pollution after Tuning
The easiest way to make a diesel engine run more efficiently is by altering the start of injection and raising smoke limitations. The downside is that this will increase the amount of polluters such as NOx and particles.
Ecotuning – How to Become More Fuel Efficient
Many people claim that after tuning the ECU, their car uses less fuel than before. As a matter of fact, in most cases they are deceived because they constantly see an increase in mileage on the dashboard which is no longer accurate. The mileage calculation alters by modification of maps changed by tuner.
The only way, other than ECO tuning, to experience an improvement in fuel efficiency after performance tuning is to adjust your driving style. You should use the extra power and torque to stay in lower revs comfortably for the engine and to shift earlier. In any other case…
More Power = More Fuel
Of course, a large increase in injected micrograms of fuel won’t make an engine run more fuel efficiently. Power has to come from a source. We know many customers want maximum power and maximum mileage, but unfortunately that is not possible. However, it is possible to make most turbocharged diesel engines more fuel efficient, but in most cases the engine won’t gain much torque with the most efficient calibration.
The Role of RPM Limitation in ECO Tuning
The most common approach to reduce fuel consumption is to reduce the rpm the driver makes or which he needs to make to cover a certain distance. The possibilities to lower the amount of rpm depend not only on the type of engine but also the size of the vehicle it is used in. This approach totally differs for a small engine in a small vehicle from the same engine in a bigger vehicle.
Lean Burn Mixture for Better Fuel Efficiency
A more complicated way to make the engine more efficient is to change the air-fuel mixture by changing the turbo, lambda and common rail maps. This can only be developed on dynamometer which is specially equipped with a system to make measurements of the fuel consumption while driving.
After testing for a few months, we gathered the information to make an engine run more fuel efficiently with more or less the same emissions and without harming the engine.
How to Tune More Economically:
- ECO tuning is a process of tuning cars to consume less fuel
- More power in the vehicle in most cases demands more fuel
- Limited rpm reduces fuel consumption
- Adjusting air-fuel ratio improves fuel efficiency
